LSE Philosophy
Loss Prevention & Safety Excellence (LSE) is Boremec’s framework for proactively identifying, assessing and
controlling risks before they result in incidents, unplanned downtime or damage to the environment.
LSE ties together engineering controls, safe systems of work and behavioural safety so that our people have the tools,
procedures and training required to perform each task safely and efficiently.
Key Elements of LSE
- Formal risk assessments for new projects, processes and significant changes.
- Safe operating procedures for critical tasks such as lifting, pressure testing and confined space work.
- Preventive maintenance programmes to keep equipment in a safe and reliable condition.
- Pre‑job safety meetings and toolbox talks focused on job‑specific hazards.
- Permit‑to‑Work controls for hot work, work at height, electrical isolation and other high‑risk activities.
Behavioural Safety & Observation
Human factors are central to incident prevention. Supervisors and team members are encouraged to actively observe
work, challenge unsafe conditions and recognise positive behaviours.
- Observation and intervention programmes to correct unsafe practices in real time.
- Open reporting culture for near‑misses and unsafe conditions without blame.
- Root‑cause analysis of incidents and near‑misses with lessons shared across the business.
Training & Competence
Competence is essential for LSE. Personnel receive role‑specific training on equipment, procedures and emergency
response requirements, complemented by periodic refresher courses.
- Induction programmes covering Boremec’s QHSE expectations and life‑saving rules.
- Task‑based training and authorisation for equipment operators and technicians.
- Regular emergency drills to keep teams prepared for abnormal situations.
